It warms up the surrounding in no time. The hum that several reviewers have mentioned is there, but is not loud (the sound is similar to when you have a fan on). A single unit probably covers about 200-300sq ft of floor space. Go for it. You wont go wrong.
My only concern was around the amount of power this seems to draw. I live in a 50 yr old Manhattan building and the power outlet gets terribly hot even at the low power setting. I run the a/c during summers from the same outlet without any issues so I think this unit needs some good electrical wiring in the house. Customer Rating: Summary: You hardly know it's there.. Comment: Very small and quiet (audible but very easy to get used to and noise doesn't interfere with sleep) Perfect for a cold bedroom, made a huge difference. Excellent value. Compare the BTU output to much larger more costly units. There is only so much heat available on a standard 120 V home circuit and on the high setting this unit safely delivers it.
